I am working with Indesign for the first time (trial offer). I need an application that works with a data merge option. My computers are iPad2 and IMac. My database applicatioin is HANDBASE on the iPad2. I emailed a copy of the database via tepmtfile.csv. I opened it up (through Windows > Utilities > data merge) the first time and it worked. I sent the whole database and decided to filter the database in HANDBASE to s smaller number of records. After attempting to merge, Indesign says that the file tempfile.csv either has no records or is not a supported file format. I open the tempfile.csv in Numbers (apple spread sheet) and it opens fine. I have tried copying another version of the tempfile.csv with and without the filtering. I get the same result. Is this a Problem with the trial offer, InDesign or what? any suggestions?
If I can solve this, I will purchase (the monthly service on an annual contract) of this program.
If it opens fine in Numbers, save it out as a CSV from it. Likely there is something different about the encoding from the HandBase exports that work or don't work. Exporting from Numbers should correct the encoding.
