          More information needed

From the Premiere Elements Information FAQ http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1042180
•What version of Premiere Elements? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Elements 12 with the 12.0.1 update).
•What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac"
•Has this ever worked before?  If so, do you recall any changes you made to Premiere Elements, such as adding Plug-ins, brushes, etc.?  Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers; or installing/uninstalling any programs?
•You MUST use an account with Administrator Privileges to run Premiere Elements
•(Doing Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 [says Encore and also for "All" versions of Premiere] will sometimes fix "odd" errors)
•Have you installed any recent program or OS updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
•What kind(s) of image file(s)? When talking about camera raw files, include the model of camera.
•If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
•What were you doing when the problem occurred?
•What other software are you running?
•Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed?  How much free space is on your system (C:) drive?
          And some other questions...
•What are you editing, and does your video have a red line over it BEFORE you do any work?
•Which version of Quicktime do you have installed?

•What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)
•What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
•Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
•For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
•-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself
          •ATI Driver Autodetect http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool
          •nVidia Driver Downloads http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on?

Is this a "it worked before but not now" or "it never worked before" matter?

            The typical questions first

            a. Are you running the program from a User Account with Administrative Privileges and also with Run As Administrator applied?

            b. Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements?

            c. Is your video card/graphics card driver up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card or the web site of the manufacturer of the computer?

            d. If you are using a laptop, have you checked the power settings.

Please also delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and, if necessary, the whole 12.0 Folder in which it exists.

            Local Disk C

            Users

            Owner

            AppData

            Roaming

            Adobe

            Premiere Elements

            12.0

and in the 12.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then you delete the whole 12.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Make sure that you are working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path cited.

You could take a look at the suggestions in the following blog post, especially if this is a "it never worked before" issue.

Please review and consider and then let us know the outcome so that we can decide what next if necessary.

No, that is not the 12.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. What you present looks like the 12.0 Folder which is the default location for many of the project's files (Adobe Premiere Elements Auto Save Folder, Adobe Premiere Elements Preview Files Folder, ......etc including the project.prel, project file.

To get started on the path that you want, click on "This PC". Then look to the right to where it says " Devices and Drives". Then

Windows 8 OS (C:) . Then next double click "Window 8 OS (C:)" and follow from that C: drive to Users and so on.

When you run the computer, you are running it from a User Account. The User Account should be set up for Administrative Privileges.

To check out how you have that set up, go to Control Panel, click on "User Accounts and Family Safety", then click on User Accounts.

Then determine if the account that you are using has "Administrator" listed along with the ID.

We will follow up on this in the morning.

                Thanks.

I can not find Windows 8 (C:) after right clicking Devices and Drives and is this a administrativeFile.PNG account?

Thanks for the confirmation about running the program from a User Account with Administrative Privileges. Just in case note, also right click the desktop icon for your Premiere Elements and apply Run As Administrator.

With regard to my path to the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file

To get started on the path that you want, click on "This PC". Then look to the right to where it says " Devices and Drives". Then

Windows 8 OS (C:) . Then next double click "Window 8 OS (C:)" and follow from that C: drive to Users and so on.

This is what this looks like on my laptop which uses Windows 8.1 64 bit

                    C Drive 8.JPG

Just click "This PC" and, then to the right, you should see Devices and drives where you double click the C drive representation.

                    Thanks.

Please go the route starting with double clicking "Local Disk (C:)" as represented in your screenshot under Devices and drives (2).

Not sure why the difference in the naming of our C drives, but it is "Local Disk (C:) in your screenshot from where you want to start enroute

to the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and the 12.0 Folder in which it exists.

Please refer back to post numbered 2.

You are not there yet. You detoured into Program Files instead of going to Users.

                        1. This is the path that you should be following

                        Local Disk C

                        Users

                        Owner

                        AppData

                        Roaming

                        Adobe

                        Premiere Elements

                        12.0

and in the 12.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then you delete the whole 12.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists.

You are not going to see most of that unless you have Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active. So, make sure

                        2. To Make Sure About Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drive....in Windows 8 or 8.1....

                        a. On your computer keyboard you have a Windows Key...hold down the Windows Key and click on the X key of the computer keyboard. That will bring up a pop up menu.

In the pop up menu, click on File Explorer.

                        b. In the page that opens, click on the View Tab.

                        c. Under the View Tab, to the far right, look for Options. And, click on Options.

                        d. Clicking on Options will bring up the Folder Options dialog.

                        e. In the Folder Options dialog, click on the View Tab.

                        f. Under this View Tab, scroll down to find the option "Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives" and make sure there is a dot next to that

                        option to select it.

                        g. Close out of there.

                        3. Now to follow and see the whole path necessary to get to the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and the 12.0 Folder in which it is exists.

Follow the path as shown in the header (red rectangle around it.

                        Help.JPG

You can do it. Go one step at a time progressing through the path cited.

If you run into any problems, stop and let me know. And, we will target where you are.

I am sorry to have to put you through all these paths, but you do need them to get to deleting what may be

the cause of your Premiere Elements issues, namely the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file or the whole

                        12.0 Folder contents.

We will be watching for your progress.

                        Thanks for the follow ups.
