I have a PrPr project on an external GTech drive connected via USB which ran fine on my old MBP in PrPr CC 2014. When I open this project on the new MBP I cannot render or export without getting error message "Video Preview Error; Error Unknown."
If I'm reading this correctly, it sounds like the project file was created on your previous MBP, and saved to that external USB (hopefully 3.0?) drive. Is that correct? Where did you have the media, scratch, etc files located on that previous MBP? I'm wondering if Pr on the new MBP is tripping over itself trying to find other data that it might need?
Also when the Warp Stabilizer effect is applied, it generates black lines across the video in the program window. This happens when using either Mercury Playback Open CL and/or Cuda. However if I switch to Mercury Playback Software only, everything is fine but of course much slower. In addition, if I remove the effects from the sequence: Warp Stabilizer and auto colour and levels, the sequence exports fine regardless of whether Mercury Playback Open CL and/or Cuda or Software only.
What about other accelerated effects? Can you apply any of them individually without getting black lines in the program window? Further, have you tried installing the previous version of Pr CC to see if the same issues exist? You'd have to create a new Pr project, as the 2014 project files aren't backward compatible. But it might be interesting to see if you're experiencing the same problems with the older Pr.

3. Re: Premier Pro CC 2014 Issues with MacBook Pro
abradders100 Jul 5, 2014 9:11 AM (in response to jasonvp)Hello Jason,
Yes Gtech is USB 3 and yes the first project was created on the old MBP. The second project I referred to was created on yet another iMac, so I will investigate that now. I am getting an error message at start up saying there is a missing Video Filter and Video Transition as below:
Video Filter missing: AE.v6+MAsbhQWq0m7YysyIpkw== and Video Transition missing: AE.ps/UHQHJQymgrWSheBDT/Q==
Will try your other suggestions too. Not sure I can reload PrPr CC as it doesn't appear on Cloud anymore, unless I am looking in the wrong place.
Thanks for your help. Much appreciated. Will report back.

I'm reading "AE." in those error messages and wondering if those are After Effects transitions or something like that? Did you have AE installed on the previous Mac, and not on this one? What happens if you install AE on the new one?

It's a bit challenging to find, but it's there. You have to click on the "Versions" link about half-way down the Cloud drop-down menu. From there, you should be able to navigate to the "Previous Versions" and find Pr CC. But hold off on that until you've tried what I suggested above.

5. Re: Premier Pro CC 2014 Issues with MacBook Pro
abradders100 Jul 5, 2014 9:45 AM (in response to jasonvp)AE was not on old Mac Book as it was single core; but AE CC was on the iMac I previously referred to and on which much of the work was done prior to me opening the project on this new MBP. AE CC 2014 is loaded on new MBP however. It has just occurred to me those effects may well be FX Factory effects which won't work at the minute on CC 2014 so I gather. Thanks for the Cloud pointer will check now.
I did as you said and created new project on new MBP and had no repeat of the issues as before. Will go back and load Pr CC (non 2014) and see what happens. Thanks very much for your help. I really appreciate it!
BTW: Projects opening in Speed Grade issue now resolved.... changed the default application in the files INFO; amazing how you can sometimes forget the simplest of things even after 25 years of Mac use!
