Can I try CC without Updating my CS6?

    Stephen Pickering122 Community Member

I know I can install both CS6 and CC, but I'm still unsure about how the trial works.  I've downloaded the Creative Cloud "downloader" (whatever you call it) which tells me what's already installed and what can be installed.  Under "Installed Apps" it lists "Premiere Pro CS6" but does not have a "Try" button but rather an "Update" button.  I just want to be sure I am not really "Updating" my licensed CS6 with 30 day trial of CC.  I sounded like I would simply be installing CC as a separate program, but the "Update" verbiage has me concerned.
      Thanks!

Stephen Pickering122 there are additional feature bearing updates for CS6 that are only available to Creative Cloud Members.  I would recommend not clicking on upgrade if you do not wish to evaluate these features.  It would be necessary to remove and reinstall the software titles to remove the software to the correct state for a Creative Suite 6 license.

All of the additional features are also available in the CC versions of the applications.

Thanks Jeff.  I'm wondering because I'm trying to figure out a way to work with another editor (not locally).  I think I will probably be renting CC (Premiere Pro single-app only) for him on a per-project basis.  The problem is that I would also like to have access to edit the CC project if needed, but I am still using CS6 am content with CS6 (I have the production suite) as my own editing setup.  If I buy two subscriptions to Premiere Pro CC (one for him and one for me) I want to be able to activate and deactivate as needed based on the projects at the time.  I hoped I could try CC to be sure it does in fact install and deactivate as needed while NOT affecting CS6.

Does this make sense?  Is it possible?  I don't mind buying the subscription and bypassing the trial, I just want to be sure it works before I spend any money to try...

            Thanks Jeff,

Moving this discussion to the Premiere Pro forum.

Stephen the community in this forum should be able to better answer your workflow based question regarding Premiere Pro CC.

CS6 and CC14 are separate installs.

Downloading CC14 trial will not affect CS6.
