Just because you get a template doesn't automatically translate into success with AE. Those templates assume that you already know a bit about the way AE works -- that you know the basics. Sometimes you need even more knowledge to get a complicated template to work. So here's where you need to go, and you blow it off at your own peril and frustration:
If you are completely new to After Effects start here: Basic Workflow. You cannot expect to do much of anything in AE without some basic training.
If you have some experience we need to know exactly what you are trying to do. The VideoHive templates usually have pre-comps or layers marked for your footage. You simply replace the placeholder footage. The templates also come with instructions.
