i just started playing around with the book part of Lightroom. I Don't need to publish a book, but I would love to composite my images land save it as a photo I can use on my blog. Is that possible?

Yes it is possible. You first have to choose from the drop down menu under the top Book Settings tab. Click the drop-down menu to the right of Book: and you should see three choices (Blurb, PDF or jpeg). Choose jpeg. You can set quality, sRGB profile and resolution. The default for printing books is normally between 240 and 300ppi but you could lower it to 72 or 96 to get more efficient files for uploading to a blog. When you have completed your page layouts simply click the button at the bottom of the right-hand panels “Export Book to Jpeg” and save to a folder.
