Members, does anyone know if Lightroom can use two physical processors. I am fairly certain that Lightroom can utilize multiple cores on a single processor, but I am unsure about two physical processors. My thought here is that since Lightroom performance is dependant on the processor and not the graphics card, giving it two processors (each having say 4 cores) should boost performance.
Executive Summary: "Unfortunately, like Adobe Lightroom 4, Adobe Lightroom 5 is simply not configured to utilize dual CPUs."
The biggest factor in processor performance with LR is clock speed. Choose a high clock speed quad-core processor, which will most likely out-perform a lower clock speed six-core processor.
Passmark is very helpful in making that selection AND determining the price/performance "sweet-spot" (see CPU Value #):
Click on the header in the table at the above link to change the sort order (i.e. Sort by Passmark CPU Mark).
Choose the highest 'CPU Passmark Mark' processor you can afford AND with a high 'CPU Value' number. Most processor manufacturers gauge you on price for those last few tenths of a GHz, which provide <1% performance improvement.
