Color Matrix Handling for M-JPEG Codec

    Marvinhowru

Hi folks, I have some 4K video file from Canon EOS-1D C, which were encoded using Motion JPEG codec, please see the following detail:

      Video

      ID                                       : 1

      Format                                   : JPEG

      Codec ID                                 : jpeg

      Duration                                 : 3s 800ms

      Bit rate mode                            : Variable

      Bit rate                                 : 518 Mbps

      Width                                    : 4096 pixels

      Height                                   : 2160 pixels

      Display aspect ratio                     : 1.896

      Frame rate mode                          : Constant

      Frame rate                               : 25.000 fps

      Color space                              : YUV

      Chroma subsampling                       : 4:2:2

      Bit depth                                : 8 bits

      Compression mode                         : Lossy

      Bits/(Pixel*Frame)                       : 2.343

      Stream size                              : 235 MiB (100%)

      Title                                    : Core Media Video

      Color primaries                          : BT.709

      Transfer characteristics                 : BT.709

      Matrix coefficients                      : BT.601

The problem is that After Effects CC 2014 misinterpret the video file as BT.709 when Color Management is turned on, and I'm unable to manually assign BT.601 profile as the option is grayed out.

It's odd that color primaries and transfer characteristics are BT.709 but matrix coefficients remain BT.601, is there any way to correctly interpret this footage and mix with other files that are standard BT.709 matrix?

      Thanks a lot
