Fireworks HTML problem in Dreamweaver MX

    69liz
      Hi

I have created a navbar with pop up menus in Fireworks and exported it into Dreamweaver. I did this about 6 months ago, finished the site - all working fine. Am now adding a load of other stuff to the site and added an extra button and pop up menu in Fireworks to the navbar. Exported it as before. Then it started playing up - first inserting 2 images when I went to insert the Fireworks html and now I get this message when I try and insert the FW html:

When executing Onclick in Fireworks html.htm the following Javascript error occurred: at line 438 of file C:\Program files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004\Configuration\Shared\MM\Scripts\InsertFireworkshtml.js":TypeError: menuFn.match(searchPatt) has no properties.

Has anyone got any ideas as this Fireworks thing took me ages to do and has lots of hyperlinks and sub menus attached to it and the thought of doing it again is not appealing.

Unless anyone has any suggestions of a different way to make drop down menus on navbar - not a jump menu. Can this be done directly in Dreamweaver?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

It's truly unfortunate that so many people elect to use these menus without
          investigating how awful they are.

Post a link to your page, please.

I can't post a link to my site because it is a school intranet site rather than an internet site.

So, I have chosen the 'unfortunate' way to do this but any suggestions on repairing the issue. I found that the drop-down menus and sub menus really worked for what i wanted to do and the students have been quickly able to navigate to the tutorial or resource that they need. Am now only adding to the site and don't really want to redesign the whole navigation system.
Any help would be gratefully received.

If you can't post a link to the page, and you can't consider using another
system, how would you propose that someone help you?

The problem is that without seeing your page, one cannot diagnose what might
be causing your problem. The other problem is that even though these menus
are native to DW/FW, you won't find many here who are very experienced with
them because those who are experienced enough to help have long ago decided
that they wouldn't touch them with someone else's finger.

I can help you if I can see your page, and if I understand what your
specific problem is. But, having re-read your original post, I am wondering
if your problem is related to the menus at all.

You can try this simple fix -

              Quit DW.

              Find this folder -

              C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
              8\Configuration\WinFileCache-*.dat
(these folders are normally hidden - you may have to use Explorer > Tools >
              Folder Options to unhide them)

              and delete it.

              Restart DW. Works better?
