Solution 1: click on the black arrow at the right of the hard disk size to show subfolders
Solution 2: In the grid, scroll down until you find the photos you are looking for (you should only have to do this once). Then right-click on one of these photos and select "Go To Folder in Library", which should highlight the folder containing this photo in your Lightroom Folder Panel. You may have to scroll up or down in the Folder Panel to see the highlighted folder.
Hi and thank you for your response dj_paige
As per solution 1.
Sub folders can be seen, however the ones I refer to of my most recent imports I can not see them amongest the folders.
When in library I can not see any of the imags I am refering to. The only way to see them is to go import and then the drive and the sub folders I refer to are there but need to be imported but does showwith previous edits.
1. Can you show us a screen capture of the problem, please, with description of what you think you should see
2. In the Library, turn off filters (Ctrl/Cmd-L once or twice), click on All Photographs in the Catalog Panel, then Expand all stacks (Photo->Stacking->Expand All stacks) and then search for one of the photos by its file name (for example, DSC_0001.JPG, or whatever the file name is).
Once again many thanks for you help.
I have done a screen capture video hope link works
It is more than likely something silly as looking me in the eye but I just cant see it.
You didn't click on the Grey arrow next to your folders in the library Folder panel to see if subfolders show up. You didn't try my suggestion #2, where you search for the photos by file name.
This was not my suggestion #2.
There were four distinct steps, which you need to try, in combination, all of them. You seem to have only done the last step.
- Turn off all filters (ctrl/cmd-L)
- Click on All photographs in the catalog panel
- Expand all stacks
- Search by file name
A second thought occurred to me ... did you import these photos when the folders were located on a different hard drive, and now the folders have been moved?
Really thank you
I will try 2 again but I did do it as you suggested but no on video.
The folder was not moved however I did remove the Harddrive to use on another PC and plug it back into main pc later, during the removal of hard drive and reconnection LR5.5 was shut down.
Does this drive have a different letter now than it did before?
I did as you suggest #2
I could not see where to search by file name as when I click on text it automatically goes Filter on!
So I scrolled down "all photographs found a photo I had a issue find and then right click"go to folder in library" it then showed it to me in my C drive which is very strange as it was never there is it is also under a date and not the name of the folder on the harddrive !!
However a I scroll down the thousands of photos there are many missing!!
So if I understand you properly, you have found these photos on your C: drive.
One possibility that comes to mind is that you accidentally imported them by moving them to your C: drive.
Anyway, you can move them to wherever you want either by using Lightroom or preferably via Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders
Nope its the same name to the drive or are you referring to USB port for example (F) or (C)
I found some eg 15 folders that were imported from external hard drive maybe 6 months ago in my C drive. However they were always on the external drive. I edited them maybe 4 / 5 times
I have not found the original folder that went missing and the photos are not there I checked by scrolling down "All Photographs"
I have since re imported them started from the beginning again with post editing.
Thank you for kind help
ok give me 5 minutes I will do another recording showing whats happening.
I just imported a new file from external hd but land up in c drive !
Problem was when I imported some how the setting "COPY" was select and not "ADD"
Now it shows in the correct drive...
So when "copy" is selected it takes the images and copies them to C drive and into a folder by date name..
Thank you for all your help think I have it now
