1. Re: "Photoshop file error -1" While building project
Stan Jones Jul 13, 2014 11:04 AM (in response to aGardenOfTheMind)Here's another thread with just yesterday with a similar issue. That user was building to flash, but the stage (yours is building motion menus) is about the same issue.
Why am I getting Photoshop File Error -1?
See the questions posed there. Also, what version of Encore?

aGardenOfTheMind Jul 13, 2014 1:25 PM (in response to Stan Jones)Okay, this definitely seems to be a similar, if not the same problem. I'm using Encore cs5.1 and Photoshop cs5.1 by the way. Do you think getting sc6 would fix the problem, and even if it does, can it still load my cs5 menu?

Stan Jones Jul 13, 2014 1:34 PM (in response to aGardenOfTheMind)Puzzling that we have no had more reports before now of this error during build.
What versions of Premiere and Photoshop do you have?
Do you get this error if you right click on a menu in the Encore menu viewer and pick "edit in photoshop"?
Menus are just psd files and have not changed over multiple versions of Encore. That should not be an issue.

aGardenOfTheMind Jul 13, 2014 2:05 PM (in response to Stan Jones)I made sure and checked, I don't get the error when using the "edit menu in PS" button.
I was actually getting the error earlier in this project while trying to make a button in Encore. My solution was to just make the buttons in Photoshop, could that have anything to do with this problem?
I working on Photoshop cs5.1, and have Premiere cs5.5. However I didn't use Premiere with this project. I edited on Final Cut Pro (7), and Compressed it using Compressor (4.1).

5. Re: "Photoshop file error -1" While building project
Stan Jones Jul 13, 2014 3:32 PM (in response to aGardenOfTheMind)Odd. It should not make a difference. But having the error at some other point in the project is interesting.
See the other thread for more action there too!

kemitesound.com Jul 14, 2014 3:21 AM (in response to Stan Jones)So that agardenofthemind does not think he is losing his mind, let me share this: I attempted to do buttons in Encore and also tried to change the name of marker points in Encore and the same problem arose. I was successful in changing them solely in Photoshop so I did that. We seem to have VERY similar issues. I know my solution doesn't seem like it should be the problem and solution but trust me, I went back and tried it several times with the SAME result. In fact, I took another project and did the same thing. It is somehow tied to audio in the menus. Yet this audio works perfectly as a DVD. Very weird to me.

Stan Jones Jul 14, 2014 5:23 AM (in response to kemitesound.com)While odd, I think this is a "Mavericks doesn't play well with Encore CS5.1" issue.
I "thought" from other posts that EN 5.1 Mavericks users got it to work okay. If so, try the Mavericks fixes.
If not, no idea.
My belief, based on seeing fixes posted for various things on the After Effects forum, is the Mavericks breaks folder permissions. But I really don't know.

8. Re: "Photoshop file error -1" While building project
aGardenOfTheMind Jul 14, 2014 1:26 PM (in response to Stan Jones)Yes, this is a shame. I've done quite the bit of researching on this "issue". What I've found is there just isn't a good relation ship between Mavericks and Encore.
This whole things is frustrating. What I think I'm going to do is load my Encore proj on an older macbook I have w/ OS9, and try to build the DVD there. This is a very lousy workaround, but most of the other workarounds haven't worked for me.
I'll post back once I've given this a try, and see if it works...
