1. Re: Links to FM Books Severed on Upgrade to TCS5
Peter Grainge Jul 16, 2014 1:09 AM (in response to canamera)I'm wondering if this is linked to a known issue with ISF files in Rh11. See Item 3 at Using RoboHelp 11

canamera Jul 16, 2014 5:17 AM (in response to Peter Grainge)Hi, Peter.
We did have the issue with the .ISF files after upgrading, but we have since downloaded the new .dll file.Would there be another step to pursue in our case where the books are no longer linked?
Thank you for your help!

Jeff_Coatsworth Jul 16, 2014 5:53 AM (in response to canamera)Is it still happening to projects upgraded after you’ve applied all the TCS5 patches?

canamera Jul 16, 2014 6:03 AM (in response to Jeff_Coatsworth)The only thing we did was install the new .dll file.
Where can I find a list of all of the TCS5 patches? At Peter's link, I see there is a RoboHelp 11.0.1 patch that I can install. Is there one place to go to see all patches?
Thank you.

5. Re: Links to FM Books Severed on Upgrade to TCS5
Peter Grainge Jul 16, 2014 6:18 AM (in response to canamera)In addition to the main patch, Adobe have issued some browser patches that you can find at
http://www.wvanweelden.eu/articles/robohelp-patches-and-updates
However, they will not affect this issue.

canamera Jul 16, 2014 6:32 AM (in response to Peter Grainge)Hi. I just had IT over here, and we ran all the Tech Comm Suite updates. RoboHelp is now at 11.0.2, and the problem has not gone away.
I've searched everywhere to see if anyone else was having this issue but no luck.
Tried the Adobe Support Chat yesterday, but it wasn't working. I'm at a loss.... -
7. Re: Links to FM Books Severed on Upgrade to TCS5
Peter Grainge Jul 16, 2014 7:01 AM (in response to canamera)11.0.2 is simply to allow Rh11 to work with Captivate 8.
I am sorry I cannot help you with the problem but I don't work with linked documents or FrameMaker.

8. Re: Links to FM Books Severed on Upgrade to TCS5
Jeff_Coatsworth Jul 16, 2014 12:03 PM (in response to canamera)And did you find that it still messed up a linked project that had never been upgraded from TCS4 after this point? Any fixes made to TCS5 will not affect already-upgraded projects in this respect – it will only work to not mess up an un-upgraded project.

9. Re: Links to FM Books Severed on Upgrade to TCS5
canamera Jul 16, 2014 12:45 PM (in response to Jeff_Coatsworth)Hi. I should have mentioned that we upgraded from TCS 3.5 to TCS 5.
Have been on the phone with Adobe for 2 hours. Looks like we have to get our old files from our taped backups and try to upgrade them on my local machine instead of on a network drive. Apparently, the network drive could be causing the issue.
Even if that works and the linking is restored, I'm not sure how to get several months' worth of FrameMaker content into these old files without messing up any linking. Any ideas?
THANKS to everyone for your input! It is much appreciated!

10. Re: Links to FM Books Severed on Upgrade to TCS5
Peter Grainge Jul 16, 2014 11:30 PM (in response to canamera)Rh11 does support projects being on a network although the OLH does state it will depend on network traffic. However, I can confirm that it is important that the project is first upgraded from the local copy that you had with previous versions of Rh.
Surely if you upgrade the project locally now, the whole point of linking is that changes to the source documents get applied when you then update the links? I'm working on the basis that the links will still be good on upgrade when done locally.
After that you could try moving the project to the network again. I have found that for most things it's just a bit slower. Heavy tasks like generating an output will take longer and only you can find out how much and whether that is acceptable. Working locally will always be quicker but some organisations don't like that.

11. Re: Links to FM Books Severed on Upgrade to TCS5
canamera Jul 17, 2014 12:29 PM (in response to Peter Grainge)I have an update. We restored our backup files (FM10 and RH9 versions) on a local machine, and the RH link to the FM .book file was intact. We then updated the files to FM12 and RH11, and the link broke.
Using a hint from one of Peter's previous posts (Re: RH8 won't upgrade RH7 project. He'p Me!), we tried again, but this time we opened the files in RH11 using the HHP file instead of the XPJ file, then closed and reopened using the XPJ file. Everything worked! And then we copied all of the files back out to the network and they still worked.
One concern was that in doing this we received an error message stating:
An error occurred while trying to read data from path\RHFrameDocs.apj<1>.
Does anyone know what could be causing this? We'd like to figure it out so we can be better prepared next time we upgrade.
Thank you!

12. Re: Links to FM Books Severed on Upgrade to TCS5
Peter Grainge Jul 20, 2014 6:12 AM (in response to canamera)I think you can fix that by copying it from an old project.
