InDesign CC crashes on Alternate Layouts

InDesign crashed each time I tried to convert my cover to an Alternate Layout, despite trying numerous variations of Liquid Layout including turning it off (whichI thought was the problem). When I tried an inside page, however, all worked fine.

Then I wondered whether it was because I had placed a video on the cover, which in fact really was an Image Sequence of about 500 jpegs. I had wondered whether it was because the page contains EPSes, but I suspect its the Image Sequence. Any solutions greatly appreciated.

Image Sequence indicates you're working with a DPS project. You'll get the best response in the DPS forum so I've moved your question.

Hi Neil,
Yes, I removed the image sequence and it still crashed. The page then contains just text and some EPSes for ads (which are pretty old).

Have you tried it with a brand new document with just that text and EPSes, with no DPS overlays on the page? If so, does it still crash?
