I don't believe you can avoid it, but you can remove them:
- Close your project.
- Find the file rhskins.apj in your project root.
- Open rhskins.apj with a text editor.
- Remove the lines for the Skins you want to remove. In your case, remove the highlighted lines:
- Save your changes.
- Remove the CPD file.
- Open your project.
Thank you, William, for your prompt reply. I followed the steps you proposed but as soon as I open the project, the rhskins.apj file is rewritten to include Beautiful and the folder is added once again in the Skins folder. There must be something in the start-up process that checks for the existence of the Skins folder and then generates it again.
Strange, that didn't happen in RH11. Did you trash the CPD? If you leave that one, the apj may be regenerated. Other than this, I don't think there's a way to get rid of them.
I'm wondering if part of the issue is that a layout exists for FlashHelp?
Aside from mentioning that, why does the presence of the skin bother you? It doesn't add to the files you distribute in any way unless you choose to use the skin. I've never really bothered to try and remove the default skins myself. I just ignore them.
Rick - You are right. (1) I should not be bothered by the flash skin. (2) I checked the layouts and the flash layouts did exist, so I deleted both and then followed your steps to edit the skn file and delete the cpd file. When I started the project again, the Beautiful Vista Flash skin was gone. When I edited the skn file and deleted the cpd file, one of the flash layouts must have been restoring it. Thank you.
