There was no update that changed InDesign CC (or InDesign CS6). The updates posted this week were for Digital Publishing Suite tools. This wouldn't have changed the core program or its preferences.
The update was for the DPS tools, but it updated the InDesign app to do this and reset all the default settings. It's really easy to tell when my defaults get changed, it makes my Interface dark. My problem is that it's not supposed to reset my settings and it did.
It didn't happen to me, and I had updates for InDesign CS6, InDesign CC and InDesign CC 2014.
If you have to the latest version, InDesign CC 2014, you can restore settings from an earlier version (Edit > Migrate Previous Local Settings).
Might be a good idea to keep a backup of your Preference file if your system is inclined to do this often.
It happened to me as well with CS6. First thing I noticed was my recent files list was empty (no Open Recent).
I haven't used ID too much recently other than helping out here, and I have a back-up of profiles, etc. So no biggie. Just reporting my experience.
