Preran Jul 25, 2014 5:39 AM (in response to bford225)Hi bford225,
You were asked to export Muse files as HTML files into Dreamweaver and then upload them using FTP? Muse is a tool for designers that aren't comfortable with coding, and the HTML generated isn't the same as what DW generates. I have never tried this workflow myself but am hoping that someone here will provide you with better insights.
Look at inputs from filip.scridon and Chris Gibson at the end of this post Re: How to import Muse into Dreamweaver
Thanks,

Nancy O. Jul 25, 2014 9:23 AM (in response to bford225)IMO, you should re-build your site in DW and forget about using MU.

4. Re: Upload Muse files using Dreamweaver FTP (was: understanding)
Nancy O. Aug 1, 2014 9:00 AM (in response to bford225)MU code is horrible to work with. It probably won't display right in DW's Design View. You'll just be frustrated by the whole mess. More importantly, once you export from MU, you can no longer use MU to edit those web pages.
Basically, MU is an all or nothing proposition. If you use MU, be prepared to use it for the life of your site. Unfortunately, MU is limited. So if you intend to add advanced web features to your site, you're really better off building a new site you can work with in DW.

bford225 Aug 1, 2014 9:08 AM (in response to Nancy O.)i see. yeah i can see what you mean. because right now. i have already made a site in muse for myself. but for some reason it wont allow me to publish to my partner site. thats why i ask the above question about exporting as html. see i am a photographer student grad. i took dreamweaver in web basics class. but i love muse simply for design means. . dreamweaver is okay for advance use.
right now adobe BC is telling me i cant upload my own site to my free partner site. using muse. they say i need to export as html and then use FTP

bford225 Aug 1, 2014 10:07 AM (in response to Nancy O.)yes i have. but thats the thing. it only talks about setting up a new site. and publishing it to a different plan for a client. not for the BC Partner users. as i said adobe BC says i cant upload a muse file to my own partner site. i am a BC partner and i have my free site plan. but it wont allow me to upload my own files to it. the url for my own plan does not show up in my muse publish box. when you go to publish.

8. Re: Upload Muse files using Dreamweaver FTP (was: understanding)
Nancy O. Aug 1, 2014 10:22 AM (in response to bford225)I don't use MU or Business Catalyst. But I think BC requires Safe FTP which MU probably doesn't support. I imagine you could use any good FTP client like FileZilla or Cute to transfer your HTML files to BC's servers. Have you asked in the BC Forum?

9. Re: Upload Muse files using Dreamweaver FTP (was: understanding)
bford225 Aug 4, 2014 8:28 PM (in response to Nancy O.)but is HTML HTML right? so if a file was exported from muse as html it can be read in dreamweaver or any html editor right? i can see a thing or two i would have to take out just like how i had to with adobe proto app for ipad. when i had cs4. my teacher said to me that i had to take out a code in the proto app file . because it was showing html 5 not html. so i had to take the html 5 out and save it as html. and it worked. thats because when adobe first came out with the cloud i was under trial in cs6. what i am trying to say is that in dreamweaver theres always code you would have to take out somewhere depending on the file. as i already talked to muse. i have 1- 2 things i can do. 1. export the file as html. or 2 start over with dreamweaver and do from scratch.
this is what i see with adobe dreamweaver and muse. both are great apps. i know a little on code because i took dreamweaver 101 in school. muse on the other hand is like indesign. which i am self teaching myself.
because i am a photographer and i have my degree in photography. i have officially started to rebrand myself as a designer and instead of a photographer. so it will take some new and more powerful tools to learn. and i am willing to learn.
what you think?

bford225 Aug 5, 2014 6:23 AM (in response to Nancy O.)I see. well. i was able to export my muse file into DW CC. um it shows up in live view as the pages. but there is a slight problem. which is what I had with muse. none of the applications are showing my adobe Bc partner URL . so how do I publish my files from DW into my partner site if the URL does not show up. i provided my url link below. i wonder if i messed up again when i created my partner site. i rally hope i dont have to have them delete it again. for the 3rd time. according to an article. it shows that i can download my BC sites into DW CC. but its not happening. .

Nancy O. Aug 5, 2014 9:23 AM (in response to bford225)You really need to learn how to use Business Catalyst to create your web site. This isn't the place for that.

13. Re: Upload Muse files using Dreamweaver FTP (was: understanding)
bford225 Aug 5, 2014 10:46 PM (in response to bford225)mission complete.
you can upload your files to your free partner site from muse. but it still has to be html. do so, you export as html and import into dreamweaver cc. from there, you dont touch the code just yet unless if you want to. if you dont touch the code the site stays the same as you when you export . so all your doing is using dreamweaver to import and upload and publish using SFTP, port 22. file transfer. as far as making changes ,you can either make them directly in dreamweaver, or bc or again changes from muse and then do the whole export and re publish. but again it is under the free site. it did not make a new site like before.
so thank you.
