Yes, you most definitely can do that, but it won't help in the slightest.
Why don't you describe the issues you have.
After installation I moved the catalog and images to a larger drive...I took all steps to Find Missing Photos..& direct to new drive. No result. Then Imported. As Add to... Now have duplicate previews.. One missing Icon and one valid. In collections some are missing and some appear. If I can't redo this I will go back to Lightroom 4 which I have along with my images on another drive. Everything was fine until I moved to this larger external drive. FYI I took great care in doing this move. Watched all appropriate videos etc.
I am thinking a new catalog might be the answer.

If you follow these instructions now, can you reconnect the photos in the catalog? Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders
Do you have backups of your catalog file before the move to the larger drive? If not, (why not?) -- you can convert your existing Lightroom 4 catalog to Lightroom 5 again, and then try again to reconnect the photos via going to the top folder (equivalent to Figure 4 in the linked article), and then Find Missing Folders.
