    Fireworks CS3 UI

    Quasi
This is a question for those "in the know". How long before Fireworks' UI gets updated to be on par with Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.?

Why I guess I could understand why Dreamweaver didn't get the new interface but Fireworks surely could benefit from it. I'm more than a little disappointed that it wasn't updated to match the other apps. Will it come in a free update this year or do we have to wait for CS4?

Those in the know probably can't say. All we can do is guess and hope.

You're probably right. A big reason I've used FW over illustrator and Photoshop is macromedia's apps had a much better UI (in my opinion). This new UI actually improves that greatly and it sucks that FW users have to work with the older UI when the apps brethren get a fancy and highly functional face-lift. I certainly hope someone from Adobe could comment and assure us that it's not too far off.

I just installed my CS3 and that was the first thing I noticed. Prior to this I used photoshop and imageready for web design. I was excited to start using fireworks under the new UI. I hope it isn't too far off. I would like Dreamweaver to use the same UI as well. Why wouldn't it? Maybe it was a false assumption, but I thought all the new apps would be using the same UI.

Well, keep in mind there is only so much any development team can do in
any dev phase. One thing Adobe is good at is unification of design, so
I'm sure we'll see a new UI at some point, just not right now :-)

Gotta have something to look forward to! ;-)

And they did a lot this cycle! We have Master Page, Pages and web layers
for each page!! This is a huge improvement :-) I'd rather get the new
functions and wait for the cosmetic improvements :-)

                    Hi Quasi,

Like few other participants have said some hope and all, but I think you might as well want to file a suggestion or feedback or write a wishlist to Adobe software development & engineering team. Help yourself with some suggestion or feedback at the URL link below:

                    Hope that helps.
                    Cheers, Brian

I completely agree. I have no problem with the existing UI. If it
changes, it changes. If not, also ok by me as long as more meat is put
into the app. Useful meat (steak, not ground beef ;-) )

                        Hey Folks,

I agree with everyone in that features are much more important than the UI being updated. I also agree, it's a decent UI right now and certainly workable. Perhaps my envy of the other apps (ps, il, fl) UI goodness provoked my questions but I still think the new UI rocks. I certainly hope we don't have to wait a year and a half to two years to have the UI brought to par with the other apps. I'd like to see a 9.5 release that could include the UI. :) FW is an awesome app and honestly I'm just grateful it wasn't axed in the merger.
