I am trying to update my Adobe Flash Player and it keeps asking me to shut down Safari even though it is already shut down. How do I continue to download the update?

Hello,

The Safari applications needs to be terminated for Flash Player to be installed.  Closing the browser window does not terminate the application.  To terminate the application, mouse-over the Safari icon in the Doc, press CTRL and left-click at the same time.  In the menu that displays, select Quit.  Safari is now terminated and installation can proceed.

CTRL = Control, the control key.  Alternatively, you can use Activity Monitor to terminate Safari:

  • Launch Activity Monitor from /Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor
  • Ensure 'All Processes' are being listed (menu in the upper right)
  • Find and select Safari
  • Click the Quit Process button (upper left)
