You might want to consider using the Movieclip loader class to load sections of your site. If you divide your site into moviclips you can load them one a t a time in the background after preloading the main menu. Livedocs:
Hi, thanks for the help, I worked it out to be something like this:
My site works in such a way that there're many big buttons on the main page, and clicking on them leads to a sub-section which will replace the main page. Using the loadMovieNum() function works, but how do I access some of the variables that I declared on the main clip? For example, I've got a soundvol variable that I want to decrease as I load section2.swf...this is to fade out the background music of the main clip...thanks for any help!

There is an depreciated language construct that can be used to check if
a specific frame has been loaded, the ifframeloaded construct. Do note
that it can not have any else part.
