1. Re: ...Photoshop CS4 now includes graphic card acceleration..
R_Kelly Jul 27, 2014 11:01 PM (in response to Chrsitian)I'd start by resetting the photoshop cs4 preferences:
Press and hold the Shift+Ctrl+Alt keys just after starting the launch of photoshop cs4.
Keep holding the keys down until you get a dialog asking if you want to Delete the adobe photoshop settings file.
Press Yes because you do.
In that dialog about graphics card acceleration, you can check Don't Show Again
If resetting the preferences doesn't solve the issue, try turning off Enable Open GL Drawing and restarting photoshop cs4
If that works, then most likely something has gone awry with your graphics card driver.
(you might have to reinstall the graphics card driver)
Double check the Nvidia website to be sure you have the latest graphics card driver updates

Doc Maik Jul 28, 2014 1:29 AM (in response to R_Kelly)I'd say, you should not update the graphics driver and go back to the old version you had when installing CS4. The graphics driver may be too up-to-date. PS can't recognize it anymore. The driver issuer does not care about PS.

3. Re: ...Photoshop CS4 now includes graphic card acceleration..
Chrsitian Jul 28, 2014 9:16 AM (in response to R_Kelly)Many, many thanks for taking the time to provide such a thoughtful response. Right after I posted the above, my Photoshop was working again. Basically I think I had, by going through all the things I could think of, gone through the steps you outlined above, and I also clicked the Don't Show Again box.
My driver was up to date. I think the whole thing was caused by my Nik Filter/Google plug-in. I have uninstalled that one, and re-installed Silver Efex and Color Efex from the original Nik Filter disks I had. I also unchecked 'allow extensions to connect to the internet' in "Preferences.' I suspect Googles updating and installing a new filter plug-in without my knowing about it caused the program several problems.
Again - many thanks!
