Sorry, maybe I don't understand, but why do you feel compelled to subscribe to CC if you already have a permanent Lightroom 5 licence?
For the SmugMug plugin, a simple Google search ("smugmug lightroom plugin") gives this link to download the plugin: http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/121321
Another way is to click the button "Find more services online..." in the the Publish Service section of Lightroom, and to search for SmugMug in the Adobe Add-ons portal; you will find a link to the latest plugin: https://creative.adobe.com/addons/products/1755
I do not feel compelled to use CC and have no intention of doing so. My issue is that when I try and install an add-on for uploading from 5 to Smugmug it seems to require the CC. There was an add-on that worked perfectly in LR4 but it did not transfer to LR% when I upgraded.
You must have a Valid Adobe ID to install an add-on via the Lightroom Plugin Manager. A Valid Adobe ID and a Creative Cloud subscription are two different things. Adobe ID's are free so I don't see the problem.
Create an ID if you don't have one and it will allow you to download and install the Add-on.
do you mean that you get an Adobe page asking for you Adobe ID, like this? So you followed my second method right?
If that's the case, this is not an obligation to subscribe to the CC, but just a completely-free-of-charge Adobe ID, that is, a mail and a password that can identify you.
In fact, it is the same username/password you used to log-in to this forum.
I was already signed in to Adobe. I was not getting the icon to set up in plug in manager and when I tried to open it from my download folder to install the first instruction was to make sure I had the CC and was signed in.
For some reason it appeared in the manager and it is working now. I haven't a clue as to what I did (if anything) to make this available and work but at this point I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth. Thanks for your help!
