can I generate hi res after png output?

I recently had a developer create my logo in fireworks to give it a 3-d effect with lighting, etc. The source file was AI. He sent me the completed files in 72dpi png. If I purchase the program, can i open that png file he sent me and create hi res images for print use?
Thank you for your help as this developer I hired doesnt reply back.

When you open AI files in FW, you're given the chance to set size and
resolution when the file opens. FW 8 does not support the latest AI
versions but FW CS3 does, I believe.

That said, Fireworks is not the ideal choice for printing as it is
designed to be a screen graphics editing application. What I suggest is
you download the trial and test it out before you make your purchase.
