What you can do is create and save a file with an .html extension (say
into the Folder.temp folder -- just don't try Folder.appData
In the file, add some html like this:
Then you can do an execute() on that file.
It should open the browser, and then immediately open the default email
client installed on the user's machine.
If you're lucky, the tab that was opened in the browser will also close
(and if it's the only tab, then the entire browser). But probably what
will happen is that the browser will stay open with a script alert!
Well, I'm not managing to insert the HTML that you'd want in the file.
Let's try again:
<html><head><meta http-equiv="refresh" content ="0; url=mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org"><script>self.close()</script></head></html>
That worked... So that's what you should add to the file.

I tried and it works, but as you noted, it left the tab of the browser open!
Which is not so preferable.
