THey are just files. Use an external harddrive ir USB stick. Your categories will get lost one way or the other. This stuff is simply not compatible with any current Adobe program, not even Elements.
What happens when you copy images from old PC to new one via a removable drive or disk?
The problem I have with that fix is that "apparently" the photos on the Starter Edition do not copy to the external drive or flash drive. At least if they do, I can't find them. Multible discussions of this problem seem to indicate that I need a code from Adobe to "unlock" the pics.
I am as disgusted as you but the fact remains; I would like to retrieve my photos and can't find a way. I have been told that I need a code from Adobe in order to do this. My hard drive backups and flash drive don't seem to contain the pics.
There is no such program as "Photoshop Starter Edition", however there is "Photoshop Album Starter Edition".
Understand that your pictures are not IN Photoshop Album, nor are they being held hostage by Photoshop Album Starter Edition. Photoshop Album only creates a catalog (database) of the digital image files on your computer. Your pictures can still be accessed through Windows Explorer or through another photo management program. They can most likely be found in a folder under your system default My Documents folder.
Windows® XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\My Documents\My Pictures\Adobe\Digital Camera Photos
Your photos should be in that directory and can be moved to your new PC.
