I do have regular backups, but this happened in the one session before the backup had kicked in. First time it's ever happened to me, to my recollection.
I'm not a fan of installing another application and increasing file handling processes just to address an issue that the main application really should have an answer for. If the issue really is as frequent and as annoying as your article suggests, then perhaps it would be a good thing for Adobe to address.

It is not something that any application that I know of addresses and I
don't see it happening any time soon.
Dropbox works seamlessly in the background.
