PS CC 2014: I imported 3D-objects in a 2D-environment (photo). The objects are placed on a wall (vertical surface). I would like to create natural shadows from these objects onto the wall. But I only succeed in making shadows on the ground plane (floor). I tried to use the vanishing filter, but this didn’t work out.
Is it possible?
Change your camera so you are looking straight down from above the object. Flip the object 90 degrees as well. You'll also have to do the same for any lighting.
The ground plane then becomes a wall behind the object.
Fiddly I know but it should work.
You can also add a 3D plane to our 3D object that is in the place where your 2D wall should be. you can then render and cast a shadow on this plane that you can use to apply to your 2D wall. You can make a dupe of the 3d objects so that you can take the shadow on the plane and apply it to your wall using blend modes like multiply or overlay, Then have just your object above that without the plane with normal blend mode.
