    Editing HD footage

I have Premiere Pro CS3 (a legitimate version, not something pirated). My operating system is Windows 7.

I just got an HD camcorder. Before obtaining it I did a quick Google search to confirm that I could edit HD footage with Premiere Pro. Now that I've uploaded some footage and am ready to start editing, I find out that I should have looked more closely because apparently it's only versions CS4 and above that can edit HD footage.

So what's my least expensive option for upgrading to a version that can edit HD?

I don't want the rent-by-the-month thing, but software that I would actually own.

It doesn't have to be the latest version, but anything that would edit HD.

Would I have to buy it from scratch, or does the fact that I already own a version mean I can upgrade for less than buying from scratch?

I Googled and saw some places claiming suspiciously low prices for CS6, but I assume it's something dodgy. But I certainly don't want to spend another $795 or whatever after having spent hundreds of dollars to buy Premiere Pro in the first place.
