When I place a text-only PowerPoint 2013 WMF into a newly created InDesign CS6 document I get the following error: "LimitCheck error occurred created the screen display for the imported graphic. The graphic will draw as a grey box and will not print or export correctly. Did you still want to place this file?" This only occurs with text-only or blank slides. WMFs generated from PowerPoint 2013 slides with linked Excel charts can be placed into InDesign CS6 normally.
It’s not a good idea to use WMF or EMF at all in InDesign as it is not a pre press file type. Use a different file type. But from PowerPoint you will never get high quality printable graphics as Power Point is not a prepress program.
