You need to convert to type 2 video, or use Premiere Elements to recapture your video to DV AVI type 2
Premiere Elements supports DV.AVI type 2, not DV AVI type 1 which you have apparently obtained from a DV data capture into another program.
I find the easier choice after you have the DV AVI type 1 is to convert it to DV AVI type 2 in the free program called DVDate.
After you drop the DV.AVI type 1 into the DVDate dialog's box that presents when you open the program, go to the Convert Menu for the
selection of Convert to type 2
If you have the time, you could do the original DV data capture firewire into Premiere Elements which will give you the DV AVI type 2 for the project's Timeline.
It is my recollection that Windows Movie Maker offers DV data capture to yield only the type 1, but I would need to double check that for latest version of
Movie Maker and variations thereof.
In some earlier Premiere Elements versions, the version would accept type1 and type 2. More recent Premiere Elements versions have had problems if type 1 is presented to it.
Please let us know the outcome.
Thank you both. That's it. Problem solved.
