I have this issue too. It can be greatly improved by simply unplugging your internet cable/turn off wireless. Give it a try it might work. I think it has something to do with edge contacting adobe servers throughout for some authorisation, but not entiely sure. I think also if you are behind some kind of firewall it has the same effect. It is deeply annoying.

I'm not sure why the above suggestion was marked helpful. First of all, it's definitely not an option for me to work disconnected from my company network for extended periods of time. Second, it didn't even work. The problem exists, as much as ever, even with everything unplugged from the network.
