yes, there is no way to use the revel plugin from LR anymore.
i am also finding this very strange as both are adobe products & no integration anymore?
i use LR as a database for all my images
and was exporting to revel, only the ones that i need to share
this is very frustrating and unexpected from adobe
maybe they will come up with a new revel plugin
but no official word from adobe yet
i have been exploring various options for sharing like smugmug, flickr etc
but have more faith in adobe, as i have been a LR and photoshop user for many years
just started using revel on free trial account, certainly wont take their PRO service without the LR/REVEL integration
i also feel that revel has been around for couple+ of years
but they lack many basic features, compared to others like smugmug
i understand a new service/app takes time to develop, but by now, they should have nailed it
for eg: if i webshare an album with a friend, he can download the individual 50 pictures one by one
there is no option to download the entire album in one go, very frustrating and very basic feature
seems like this is a hobby project for adobe and they aint investing much into this service
though their annual subscription charges are at par with others like smugmug and probably more than some others
the revel forum is also not very active from adobe's side
they should realise that people like you & me, and many others explore first and then finalise a service for good and stick to it
what if i go towards smugmug and upload all, i wont be changing back to revel, as its a lot of hassel organizing and re-uploading again
if anyone listening/monitoring these threads on adobe forum
Your linked page says NOTHING about Lightroom an Revel not being supported. I just tried the Revel plugin in lr5.6 on OSX 10.8.5 and it worked fine. The plugin works but Revel is still a POOR service.
I am running Lightroom 5.6, and if I click on the add button for Revel, it takes me to an Adobe page, that says no longer available.
Could you tell me how you installed the plug in in 5.6?
Here's the page it takes me to -
I installed it in a previous version of Lr5 and it STILL works for me. I will probably be removing it as I feel Revel is a poor excuse for photo service. I see now that it is no longer available when I follow your link. this may be temporary as Adobe has really been having MAJOR screwups in their software releases in the last several months .
Ah, the Revel plug in only worked in 4.x versions of LR for me. Maybe it's because I moved to 5.x later?
Yes, I agree, the Adobe updates lately have been broken and integration has been questionable...
That said, Revel (and the plug in) worked great for me.
On average, I manage around 2 TB of photos in my main LR library, and used Revel to share photos via mobile devices with clients/family/friends.
Using a web browser - as Adobe wants me to - to upload photos from LR to Revel is very inconvenient...and will probably force me to find another service to share photos on my mobile devices...oh well.
I don't see myself as ever needing or wanting LR Mobile...I would never edit a LR photo on a mobile device. And I would never want to sync a photo from a mobile device to my LR library. I don't even consider photos taken on mobile devices to be real photos...more like blips I upload to social sites like yelp...
You are not going to believe this...
But somehow, the Revel plug in is now in Lightroom 5x for me. As a matter of fact, instead of a default publish list - like it was - it's the publish list I used in LR 4x.
I just launched LR 5.6 today...and poof, the plug was there...and it seems to work.
That's a little unnerving, since I didn't do a darn thing since the last time I launched LR...and found this forum, and ranted about the plug in not working or being there...
But, the plug in is there, and it works...very cool...but spooky.
And if you're listening...thanks Adobe!
Maybe it installs with the Lightroom default install in Lr5.6. I have always wondered why you had to download and install it separately in previous versions. My opinion of Revel is still poor though
Exactly! I am an elements user for years! Love the elements and premiere programs but Adobe always fall short when it comes to storing videos and photos! Like them, my files are all over the place (online). Why can't they get it together? I'm sooo tired of reloading, relearning or rebuying!
