    "Not enough disk space," Macbook installation. :/

      If I have 1GB of space on my Macbook, why does my installation cancel and say "not enough disk space?" I have gone through and made space for the installation of Adobe Flash Player but still receive the same message.

          Are you using the online installer downloaded from get.adobe.com/flashplayer, or the offline installer?  What OS X version do you have?

            I have the 10.7.5, Im using the one that popped up whenever I tried to watch a video and it said "Blocked-plug." It sent me straight to the Adobe Flash Player download.

              Hello,

               

              Can you please tun the online installer from the terminal in debug mode to obtain a log file? Instructions are:

               

              1. Download the installer  from get.adobe.com/flashplayer and save it to the desktop
              2. Mount the DMG (double-click the file) and copy the .app file to a local folder (e.g. desktop)
              3. Open LaunchPad and in the top search window type Terminal, click the app icon to open the Terminal application
              4. In Terminal, change directories to where the .app is saved to (step 2), type: cd <location to file in step 2>
                • e.g. If the extracted .app file is on the desktop, type: cd /Users/labuser/Desktop
              5. At the prompt, type:
                ./Install\Adobe\ Flash\ Player.app/Contents/MacOS/Install\Adobe\ Flash\ Player -debug - file
              6. Go back to back to the location where the .app is saved to (step 2)
              7. Right-click on the app and select Show Package Contents
              8. In the window that displays, navigate to Contents/MacOS
              9. Obtain the host.develop.log file.
              10. Post the contents of the host.develop.log file here in your response, or share the file following the How to share a document instructions.

                    Many thanks - My system- and home directories are on separate partitions; I have 48GB available for the system and 180GB available for my user directory. I have tried installing from a setup where home and system are on the same volume but had the same 'no disk space' error, so I don't believe that's a factor.

                      Hello,

                       

                      After reviewing the install log file, it seems the shim installer you are using is for a previous version of the Flash Player (although, an erroneous error message is being returned.  The shim installer is configured to only work with specific versions of Flash Player.  The one you are attempting to use is for Flash Player 15 and Flash Player 16 is now the latest version available, therefore, the shim installer for version 15 will not work with version 16.  I have made a request to the folks who handle the shim installer to return the correct error message in this situation.  Please download the latest shim installer from get.adobe.com/flashplayer.

                          Thanks for the additional information.  The log file indicates it's version 15 and that's where we got the version from.  Do you happen to have a previous version of the shim installer on your system?

                            I'm not quite sure what that means; I have only attempted the install from the .dmg file on my desktop, downloaded from get.adobe.com/flashplayer.

                              Thank you for your assistance in troubleshooting the 'not enough disk space' error.  We've not been able to reproduce the error, but will continue to investigate.  In the mean time, please try using the standalone installer, posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac page, in the 'Still having problems' section.

                                I am pleased to say that the 'standalone installer, posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac page' did the trick - at last, after many, many hours of trying in all manner of ways.  I am so glad you referred me to it, thank you very much.
