Which version of InDesign ?
DId you complete the form in Acrobat and enable it for user use?
its InDesign CC 2014. I create the button and add an action to mailto my e mail but then when I export to interactive PDF and click submit nothing appears about how I can submit to e mail. Not sure how to enable?
I just did a quick test in InDesign CC and my one worked. Maybe you should delete the button and redo it.
By the way on a slightly different matter, do you know that to enable users to complete the form and store it on their computer using Acrobat Reader, you need to enable the form as follows:
Open the form in Acrobat XI and then:
File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools (includes for fill-in & save). . . Your users will be able to fill in the form and save it (assuming they have the later versions of Acrobat Reader).
Make sure you keep a copy of your original PDF with a different file name as once you've created a Reader Enabled PDF Form you can't change it.
Thanks. Im using Windows 8 if that makes a difference? I'll give it a try
im now sending the pdf manually but I'm unable to complete the interactive fields. Is this because it has to be opened in Adobe?
I thought you wanted a button on the form for users to click to mail the form to you (or someone).
You always have to complete the form in Adobe Acrobat. The user opens and completes the form using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.
If you intend to produce forms regularly, it might be worth considering some training. There are a number of books available, or alternatively, personal training, for example in the UK: Certitec.com,
and online training, such as Lynda.com's
I believe you can get a free week on Lynda to try out their tutorials.
