I am using CS4 Adobe premiere pro.
This might be a strange question, but let me explain it:
I have a master file - "Footage" where I have pre-cut out all the scenes and clips I may ever need to use for a client. Having this large master file of all the footage makes creating any new work for them very quick.
When I make a new project for them, I merely open this master file and save a copy as the new project. Great - no issues.
However, I often add to the master file and may then need to import from the master file into another project - copying and pasting the clips I need from the master timeline to the other project file.
In some cases I have made changes to a file I already had in both the master and the other project file - let's just call this "video1.mov" for a reference. When I import from the master Footage file into the other project file, I now have two copies of "video1.mov" - but I can't delete either of them as they each have clips in the timeline.
So what I am curious about (and I hope this makes sense) is if I can get the newly imported footage to recognize the video1.mov file already in the project, rather than having it in there twice?
Thanks!
