1. Re: Proper format in which to render video?
John T Smith Aug 16, 2014 5:07 PM (in response to Alan1734)The native size of a VHS tape is 720x480 (in the US) so exporting to any larger size will only make your video look fuzzy
But... test a small file to each export option and see for yourself

2. Re: Proper format in which to render video?
Alan1734 Aug 16, 2014 7:03 PM (in response to John T Smith)Well, I did and frankly, I couldn't tell any difference in image quality. The only thing I could tell is that the picture on the 720 was stretched to fill the entire screen by default and the 1080 had the vertical black bars on the side. In flipping back and forth between the two versions on the DVD, it did appear that the 720 was being slightly artificially enlarged.
Unfortunately, I don't have a RW blu ray to test it on to see how it would behave there.
So more broadly, does it matter if you put 720 content on a BR disc or does it need to be 1080?

3. Re: Proper format in which to render video?
Mark Mapes Aug 16, 2014 8:30 PM (in response to Alan1734)Blu-ray supports 720P content. In fact, if you set the format to h.264 or MPEG2, you'll find three 1280x720 presets in different framerates (29.97, 50, and 59.94).

4. Re: Proper format in which to render video?
Ann Bens Aug 17, 2014 7:47 AM (in response to Alan1734)I would just export to 720x480 4:3.
But H.264 BluRay 720x480 its broken in CC14 if you want to use it in Encore.
You can still use BluRay mpeg.
