Try choosing "Link to external file" when importing the Flash swfs
instead of "Standard Import" - this should allow them to locate any
required external resources
Hi again I tried the 'link to external file' but still nothing shows on the stage after importing. Is it possible for me to simply open the flash quiz from its current location? If so I would like to play it without having to rely on the host computer for the flash player. I would like to open the swf and play it using resources from within the Director projector itself. How can I play these quizzes. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
You /could/ open the main/host swf as a separate process, but you'd have
to turn it into a Flash Projector in order to not rely on installed players.
If I open the swf with a Director projector which is published using the flash xtra, would this be enough to open the swf without having the flash player installed on the hosting computer? Thanks in advance.
But in order to open it using the Flash Asset xtra you have to host it
wihin a Director window - and this seems to be giving you grief.
Open your host swf in Flash Player and choose File -> Create Projector
This creates a Flash projector with the player libraries bundled into it
(so it /isn't/ dependent on the correct version of the player being
available on end-user's systems) which you can start as a stand-alone
process with Buddy API or FileXtra4 or _player.open()
Thanks for that info I will try that. One more thing, I discovered that the swf quiz works with a xml file that is placed in a sub-directory from the location of the swf quiz for example if the quiz location is MyApp\quiz . swf the xml file is at MyApp\File\question.xml. Is there any possible way for me to import the swf into Director and still allow the swf to find this file? I tried importing both the swf and the xml file into Director but it does not work. If there isn't any way of doing this then I will have to go with the prior solution. Thanks in advance.
Like I said already: in order for a swf file hosted within Director to
locate required assets it /must/ be imported as "Link to external file"
I imported the swf using "Link to external file" and still nothing. Thanks so much Sean for all your help.
