How do I "edit source" more than twice in Photoshop CC 2014?

How do I "edit source" more than twice in Photoshop CC 2014? When I edit my 3D text layer via "edit source" it allows me to change it just fine. When I duplicate the 3D layer and go "edit source" on that one, it works just fine too. But when I duplicate the 3D layer a third time and go "edit source" it doesn't work! It opens the .psb just fine and I can change the text but when I save it, it doesn't commit! I tried multiple times but all it does it save the .psb file like "textlayer3.psb", "textlayer4.psb", "textlayer5.psb" and so on but they don't commit the change to the original 3D layer. Why? Does anyone know what I am talking about?

      Thanks.

EDIT: I'd like to add that I'm trying to edit the text, the size and warping the text. Maybe the reason is because of a combination of those? Is that why it doesn't work? But why wouldn't that work?
