Files not downloading as DNG

I shoot RAW files on a Nikon D800 and import them with LR4.4 which usually converts them to DNGs . . . but not anymore. It's now importing them as NEFs. Nothing has changed in my workflow, cameras, computer or software. How do I change that? How do I convert the NEFs to DNGs? When they are NEFs, I can't edit in PS6 from LR although I can export them and convert them to PSD files. What gives?

Stupid question, in the Import dialog, you are selecting Copy as DNG? Next question, after you import, if you select and use the Convert to DNG command, does that work?

Yes, Copy as DNG is always on, but Yes, also, I realized I can use the Convert to DNG command. Never have had to do that before, so I didn't know it existed. Thank you.

You shouldn't have to though. It's odd that using the command on import doesn't work but does after import. It works fine for me. I wonder if it has something to do with that older version of LR (4.4) which I just noticed you are using.
