1. Re: Saving a drawing as vector file?
frank s-g Aug 28, 2014 11:15 AM (in response to pynxster)There are three ways to get the drawings out of Ideas and into an app like Illustrator.
1) Open a drawing and tap the share menu in the top right. Choose "Email". This will allow you to send an email with a pdf file as an attachment.
2) If you sign in with an AdobeID, you can turn on sync and synchronize your files to your Creative Cloud account. Then, download the desired file from the cloud to your desktop through your browser (or through the Creative Cloud app, if you are a subscriber). The .idea file can be opened directly in Illustrator CS6 and above.
3) If you are a paid subscriber and are on the latest version of Ideas, you can tap the share menu and choose "Send to Illustrator". If you have Creative Cloud installed on your desktop, it should download the file automatically and launch Illustrator with the file.
Hope that helps,
Frank

2. Re: Saving a drawing as vector file?
lizard r Oct 3, 2014 7:50 PM (in response to frank s-g)I can't get a vector file to save by sync. I have had Adobe Ideas for about a week now, and it is nothing but frustration. I can't get rotate to work, I can't get synced to the cloud (and I am a subscriber) I can't figure out how to activate the paint fill bucket, but worst of all is this vector thing.
Why doesn't the program come with some kind of a 'help' menu??
I keep reading that there is a way to send directly to Illustrator, but I can't figure it out, and I have Illustrator 6. Sending layered files via email as PDF's is not my idea of a solution, and the layers aren't preserved, which is ideally what I would like. It's hard to tell when Ideas is saving something and what the file name will be if I try to transfer it to another program, but I have no options to upload or download it anywhere but as a JPG.

3. Re: Saving a drawing as vector file?
Frank Stokes-Guinan Oct 8, 2014 11:49 AM (in response to lizard r)In the Ideas organizer view, tap the settings icon on the top right, and then tap "My Account". If you are not signed in yet, sign in there using your Adobe ID and password. Once you're signed in, tap the "Close" button at the bottom to return to the organizer view.
Tap the Creative Cloud icon in the top right and turn on "Sync files". This should start synchronizing your files with your Creative Cloud account. A file will be marked with a check mark once it is synchronized. (Unfortunately, the current sync back-end server is not the most robust, so if you have trouble getting some files synchronized, try turning sync off and on again. We are working on improving this situation.)
On the desktop, open a web browser to "http://creative.adobe.com". Sign in with the same Adobe ID and password. Click the "Files" link on the lefthand side under the "Assets" section. You should see your synchronized files there. Click on the file you're interested in. Then, click on the Actions button and select "Download". Choose the "original" format. Once it is downloaded onto your desktop, you should be able to drag the file onto Illustrator and see the vectors and layers preserved.
Hope that helps,
Frank

4. Re: Saving a drawing as vector file?
lizard r Oct 8, 2014 4:19 PM (in response to Frank Stokes-Guinan)I was following all those steps all this time, but didn't realize that Ideas on my iPad was signed in to my other Cloud account.
PROBLEM SOLVED.
(that's the problem with also having a work account)
And what had added to the confusion was that Sync wouldn't connect. That doesn't seem to be a problem now.
Thanks for reminding me to check the sign-in part...... it all works beautifully if you do it right.
