    Creating Interactive graphic symbols

    daegui
I have read the Fireworks MX tutorial that comes with it among other online help, however, I'm missing something.
In essence, I have drawn a vector circle on one layer and a text letter on another. I want to merge both and create either
a button and/or a graphic symbol. First of all, what are the main differences between them and how do I step by step create them?
My overall goal is for interactivity, specifically, when the cursor goes over it & user clicks, the appearance of a text word appears with a new space of information but at the SAME page. Please help!

It sounds like you want a "Button" symbol and a Remote rollover.

          To make the symbol,
          1. Select the vector shape and the text that will go on the button
          2. Press F8, Select Button
          3. When the Button editor opens, you'll see the up, over etc. states
          4. Click on Over, Click the copy up graphic and made the changes you
          want for the over state
          5. Repeat for the other states
          6. Click Done
          7. You'll have an "instance of the symbol on the canvas. Either drag
more from the Library for other buttons or Press the Alt key and drag on
the one there to make a copy
          8. Select one of the buttons and in the Property inspector change the
          name - repeat for all

To make the Remote rollovers check the help file

I have detailed button tutorials on my JoyceJEvans.com site if you'd
          like to check them out.
