I'm a newbie when it comes to AE so please bear with me.
I'm trying to create a ray-trace similar to this tutorial: After Effects 3D Logo Animation Ray Traced - YouTube. However, I wanted to add a logo as well.
I have created the logo in AI (without any gradient colours, just plain white fill) and when imported, I created a shape from this vector layer. However, when I go to apply a ramp gradient effect, nothing happens, no matter what colours or tweaks I try. Is there something obvious I'm missing here at all?
Any help would be much appreciated.
All effects including radio ramp are blocked for 3-D layers when you are using Ray–traced rendering. You have to use a gradient fill on a Ray-traced layer that you are going to extrude because the Ray-traced rendering engine blocks effects and blend modes applied to 3D layers. You should get a warning the first time you set a comp to Ray-traced rendering. Apparently you missed that or maybe you turned off the warning.
