Removing the Preference file has worked. Thank you so much for the reply. And a speedy reply at that. Very grateful.
I have tried to upload the corrupt file but does not seem to be receiving the zip file.

This user-to-user forum doesn't accept email attachments. Besides, Adobe engineers don't lurk in these forums.
…besides, a corrupted preferences file is trivial. Adobe would be overwhelmed if they looked at even a tiny percentage of them.
We do look at a lot of preferences corruption issues, and constantly make changes to solve what we find.
That being said, CS5 is several versions behind the current release and doesn't have a lot of the fixes/changes that we've already made - so the corrupt preferences wouldn't be too useful.
