highlight text issue

hello,

Iam having trouble selecting text. When I try to highlight, only portions of the word or sentence end up being selected and I end up with a weird markup. In the past i figured to shut down and restart, yet this does not seem to work. Is there a setting box i should check and or a update i need to run?

This is usually the result of a file that was scanned and then underwent a not very successful OCR, probably by an older version of Acrobat or some other application. There's nothing much you can do about it, I'm afraid. The only idea that comes to mind is to re-create the file and run OCR (Text Recognition) on it using Acrobat XI, and you might get better results.
