1. Re: Codec workflow
Chase Chick Aug 27, 2014 10:15 PM (in response to Chase Chick)Another option I was thinking would be to stabilize footage in 4k, stay with the 4k but render a proxy to work on in terms of color correcting / grading / effects, then render to dnxhd and move to premiere.
But my theory against that is the rendering 4k to 1080p dnxhd is going to get me some 444 footage which would offer greater latitude in terms of color correction and grading...

shooternz Aug 27, 2014 11:10 PM (in response to Chase Chick)You sure do a lot of wasted effort and work and processing time in your workflow.
Edit Native> then do all your post work is far more efficient in every way compared to what you are doing.
What are you shooting that requires 4K anyway?

3. Re: Codec workflow
Chase Chick Aug 28, 2014 6:55 AM (in response to shooternz)I like to shoot wider than I need to in 4k so when it comes time to stabilize I won't have to worry about losing much due to cropping.
So you're saying edit native, but render a proxy? My desktop is fairly beefy, but the 4k files do slow it down, hence the effort to find a work flow that enables me to actually work faster. So far I'm liking the dnxhd route.
