1. Re: Creating a password to protect a hyperlink from being executed in a PDF, that was created in InDesign
BobLevine Aug 29, 2014 11:11 AM (in response to iBabs2)It certainly can’t be done in InDesign. Check the Acrobat forum to see if something can be done with javascript.

P Spier Aug 29, 2014 11:15 AM (in response to iBabs2)Do you control the other end? It would be more normal to require authentication when accessing the page.

iBabs2 Aug 29, 2014 11:24 AM (in response to iBabs2)Looking at the options in Acrobat, my best guess is what Bob suggested....A custom Javascript, for the action placed on the link, may be the only way???

P Spier Aug 29, 2014 11:29 AM (in response to iBabs2)I don't think you understood what I meant, but I'm not clear on where these links go. If they go to a web page, the page can be protected.

iBabs2 Aug 30, 2014 7:51 AM (in response to P Spier)HI Peter,
Sorry I misunderstood.
THe links go to pages within the same PDF.
Is that possibly?
thanks

8. Re: Creating a password to protect a hyperlink from being executed in a PDF, that was created in InDesign
P Spier Aug 30, 2014 8:14 AM (in response to iBabs2)OooooKaaaaay. If the pages are in the same PDF, how do you expect to hide them from ordinary navigation/scrolling? Disabling the hyperlink seems like a waste of time if anyone can still page through the document. And if you have a way to require authentication at the page level (I have no idea how that would be done), you don't need it at the hyperlink stage.

iBabs2 Aug 30, 2014 8:29 AM (in response to P Spier)AHhhhhh.... Good Point!!!
With that said, maybe those few pages can be in a separate PDF that is password protected?
Hmmmmm..... That might be doable. I have to find out from the developers how they are implementing these for usage.
thank yoU!
