You know what you want your final composite to look like. You know how to use layers and mask. But seem bent on using a few layers and do much with them using complex and hard to make selections. Layers are you friend. Use more layers to make you composite. Don't try to blend and mask all thing as once using a layer or two use more layers and make it easy on yourself. Make you composite in stages. You can always merge down visible layer combo later to reduce the number of layers or even flatten.
