If I am understanding you properly, you would use the Crop Tool to do this.
yes, the crop tool helps to a certain extend,
e.g. when I crop the head of the lion it seems to be bigger because the foto shows the head only.
Actually I'd like to zoom in, e.g 2:1, to enlarge the head, then I'd like to crop this enlarged head and save it as the foto I'd like to show.
Any hint for this ?
Yes, you crop the lion's head so that it is the right size, and then use it in the Slideshow in Lightroom, or export the photo for use outside of Lightroom.
right, I can select a size(-format), e.g. 4:5, by using the crop tool,
but I can't enlarge the head then,
when I zoom-in first, e.g. 2:1 and use crop then, the enhancement disappears.
I am looking for both in combination: zoom-in and crop the (extended) part, here: the head
As far as I know, the combination does not exist in Lightroom, nor does it make sense to do both. Cropping is the tool you want, you crop it so the lion's head is the size you want. Zooming does not affect the photo when it is used, it only affects the photo when you view it on your screen.
so, what do you recommend to enlarge the size (...of the head) ?
I watched this youtube clip: How to use the crop tool in Lightroom 5 - YouTube,
but this samples do not show how I can increase the size.
You do whatever looks good to you, good cropping is artistic, not mathematical
mh, actually I am a bit surprised, that this (combination) does not work in such a powerfull tool like Lightroom,
I have seen this in iPhoto - on my wife's Mac,
it's very easy there: zoom-in, crop, save - that's it.
Lightroom was not designed to be a powerful editor in the way Photoshop or even Photoshop Elements is powerful; it's list of features is relatively small compared to other programs (but its still a large list of features, just not as large as other programs), but what it does do, it does extremely well.
I appreciate your help
I hope there will soon be in Lightroom the ability to zoom in for precise cropping. LR is such a fantastic tool and it's really frustrating to have to go out to Photoshop for something this basic. I appreciate what you're saying about LR v PS, but zooming to crop is not something that should be reserved for power tools (like PS) - it's got day to day value for people of any skill level. Please, please, please add this capability. There are a LOT of photographers out here that are dying for it! Thanks.

After you crop the image so that it just shows the head of the lion, The only way you can make that image bigger is to export a copy and specify the dimensions that you need. Then Lightroom will create a copy and make it larger.
