Thank you for responding Mr. Murphy. I've chatted with another technician, but my issue has not been resolved, because the SC6 key had been provided by my school, the Academy of art university a few years ago. Therefore, I have no proof of purchase, I'll look for the school email to verify the key. Your colleague, could not find any helpful information, claiming that the key, I have successfully used to activate the product, which I am using for the last year or so, belongs to another account which I "might" have under an older email address, that perhaps I've canceled. Until I'm able to retrieve registration information from backups, I am using SC5.
If your serial number was supplied by your university it's possible that they had a term license which is valid for a certain period of time - usually 2-3 years. The serial numbers stop working at the end of the term license so you'd need to check with your university to see what options they now offer.
