Why does a library item lose it's root element/parent element when placed on a page?

I am trying to figure out why the structure of my library element does not stay in tact. I have created a library element that consists of text and graphics boxes that have been tagged and grouped together. You can see in the structure section that all tags are contained within a root element/parent element called "ad" BEFORE it is added to a Library. (See attached screen capture "CS6 Correct" below)

However, when I drag the library element to a page, the structure does not stay in tact, and the root element/parent element called "ad" disappears. (see attached screen capture "CS6 Incorrect" below)

Is there some way to prevent this from happening?
